However, and in deference to the kitchen and service team, they had just reopened, after the refurbishment, so maybe everything was not yet fine-tuned. Now, the venue is lovely, with subdued lighting, and well-spaced seating - elegant in every respect, and resplendent in the Holiday decorations.

I didn't want a complex wine service this evening so simply opted for Blanc de Blancs Champagne and a lovely glass of Chateau des Tours Grenache 2014 with the Lamb.

Well, it had been 3 years, and also the interior was decorated for the Holidays, so I am not sure that I picked up on all of the changes, but they were open, and we were just happy to dine there again. Service was very good although if I'm honest, when I was asked if I wanted a cheese course, being old fashioned, I asked for it after the desserts.

Once our reservation was confirmed I then received a message from first Mirko the restaurant manager and second Nicha the hotel restaurant coordinator who said they would like to offer us a truly amazing experience by dining at the Chef's Table. Protein main dish was very bitter and when I raised the issue the waiter dismissed it and said it’s how it’s supposed to be.
We were blown away with the whole experience but that was perhaps due to it being our first 'proper' meal out since lockdown. First Course: Back to the drawing board on that one I'd argue! Here there were deviations too, but again, I managed to let my wife taste my dish. The added bonus was that a fully vegetarian set menu was available for my mom which gave her a lot more options. Then, The Connaught had a major renovation of their own, and Chef Hartnett departed, to be replaced by Chef Darroze, with her eponymous restaurant.

Though we were not staying at The Connaught in December, we walked over to start our evening in the Coburg Bar, essentially next door, in the lobby of The Connaught. Thanks also to Mirko for his amazing wine pairings. We will come back again and again. The visually appealing dishes are built around one high quality main ingredient and are bold, feminine and full of finesse. This time round we did lunch instead & very pleased to find it a very good value for half the price of dinner where we enjoyed fewer dishes but wines & water were included in total cost. We very much look forwrad to having the pleasure of join us again in the future. GBP My daughter and I frequent lots of Michelin restaurants on a regular basis but this one is right at top and should be in the highest star category . Hélène Darroze at The Connaught – a Two MICHELIN Stars: Excellent cooking, worth a detour! We do get a free night, or two, but schedules had just not worked out to get back, as a couple.

All other Restaurant and Bars will remain closed until further notice. For myself I chose the first of the supplement dishes of Caviar with Scottish Langoustine , melon , samphire & ponzu that was absolutely stunning. Plates arriving to the wrong people (only two of us), taking dishes before finishing and pouring own water are unacceptable. I highly recommend this restaurant.
